Introduction to the competition:

Datong City, formerly known as Yunzhong, Pingcheng, and Yunzhou, is a prefecture level city in  Shanxi Province, North China. Situated at the heart of the Datong Basin in northern Shanxi, it  borders the provinces of Shanxi, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia, and lies to the northeast of the  Loess Plateau. Historically, it has served as a crucial stronghold for the Jin Dynasty, acting as a  gateway to the north and connecting Jin, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia. To the north, it shares a  border with Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia, separated by the Great Wall. Recognized as one of  China's nine ancient capitals and a national historical and cultural city, Datong has a rich heritage  as the former capital of the Southern Dynasties, Northern Wei, Liao, Jin, and early Yuan dynasties, boasting numerous historical landmarks.

Nanliuzhuang Airport, situated in Duzhuang Township, Yunzhou District, Datong City, spans an  area of 1872.95 acres. The airport features a 1500m x 45m runway, five 1500m x 15m parallel  taxiways, five vertical connecting lanes, a 21960 square meter parking apron, and five hangars.  The  airport  infrastructure  includes  various  buildings  such  as  an  air  traffic  control  facility,  a  terminal building, maintenance hangar, living quarters, offices, teaching facilities, and exhibition  halls. Additionally, there are 11 large hangar buildings along with essential service facilities like  power distribution stations, aviation fuel stations, natural gas boiler rooms, water pump facilities, waste transfer stations, and parking areas.

Equipped  with  a  conference  hall,  restaurant,  and  over  70  reception  rooms  capable  of accommodating up to 300 individuals for meetings and dining, the airport is an ideal venue for large-scale events.  It  has  been  chosen  as the training  base for the  national  aviation  model performance team and the national youth aviation summer camp for three consecutive years. With excellent clearance conditions, strategic location, and top-notch facilities, the airport is well-suited for hosting a range of aviation activities including aircraft parachuting, gliding, hot air ballooning, and light sports aircraft competitions. Moreover, it caters to flight training, aerial surveying, photography, cloud seeding, agricultural and forestry aerial operations, and aerial tourism. By providing first-rate facilities, equipment, and services, the airport aims to foster the growth of aviation sports and the aviation industry.
